What can I plant this fall?

10/3/2019

Comments

Even though this fall season isn’t feeling too much like fall yet, the fall temperatures we all love will be here quickly. It’s hard to think about preparing for fall when it’s 90 degrees, but now is the time! It is the perfect time to enhance your curb appeal and add some plants that thrive during autumn. There are several fall plants that you can plant in the Upstate area!
Mums are a popular fall decor item among many. They can be found everywhere this season because they are such a staple. They add a beautiful pop of color and their beautiful blooms last for weeks. While they can be planted in the ground, they also make a great container plant that you can place on your front porch. They should be placed in a sunny spot.

Zebra Grass
is a great addition to fall flowerbeds. It has a great size and is unique enough to stand out from other foliage. Zebra Grass is also safe to keep during the winter months and then can be cut at the base in early spring. It should be planted in an area with full to partial sun.

Ornamental Kale
adds a different element to fall flowerbeds. It pairs well being planted beside Pansies because of the color combination. Ornamental Kale will last even past the first frost of the season. It thrives when planted in full sun.

Asters should be planted during cool fall weather because that is when they thrive. They are available in several different color options and are great for attracting pollinators to your lawn. Asters grow best when planted in full to partial sun.
Pansies also bring a beautiful pop of color to your yard. They come in several different color varieties! These should be planted once it gets a little cooler. They thrive in soil that is between 45-65 degrees. Pansies enjoy an area that is partially shaded.
If you have any questions or concerns about planting for fall, drop us a comment, send us a message or give us a call. We will be happy to answer any of your questions!
