WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR LANDSCAPE DESIGN CONSULTATION

While our onsite estimate for projects are free, our design services range in cost depending on the project size. Our Project Specialist will quickly set up a meeting with you and do a free onsite 30 minute consultation to learn about what your needs are and what you want to accomplish.

Our Project Specialist will be able to provide a verbal estimate price while onsite with you. This is a rough price or range based on the information and goals you have given us, but it could vary.

If after our free estimate consultation and verbal estimate you would like to move forward with a full design we will set up a design consultation meeting as part of the design process. This meeting could be between 1-4 hours depending on the size of the project.

After your design consultation our project specialist will spend additional hours designing your project, meeting with our project foremen to confirm the estimated budgeted time, contact our material suppliers, and tentatively structure deliveries. Many of our large projects take 8+ hours to finalize with our clients, suppliers, and foreman.

Please be prepare to discuss types of features to be included, color choices, plant selections, fencing, patio placements,  mulch colors, irrigation needs, landscape lighting, etc. Great places to visit prior to our arrival are Landscaper Supply, Site One, or Big Rock. A few of our supplies to look at our Belgard Pavers, Techo Bloc Pavers, and Unilock.

WHAT TO HAVE READY PRIOR TO THE CONSULTATION

  • ANY PHOTOS OR IDEAS THAT YOU HAVE
PLOT PLANS OR SURVEYS OF THE PROPERTY
Your welcome to send any ideas, pictures, videos, plans, surveys, etc. before your meeting to your project specialist for them to review prior to the meeting.
THE COST OF AN ALL OUTDOORS DESIGN HAS MANY VARIABLES.
A FEW OF THEM ARE FAIRLY OBVIOUS, SUCH AS:
  • the size of your property.
  • the elements you want to include in the design (hardscaped patios/walkways/driveways, water features, fire pits, arbors and pergolas, irrigation, large mature trees/palms, outdoor kitchen, landscape lighting, etc.)

OTHER, NOT SO OBVIOUS, FACTORS THAT DETERMINE THE COST
OF YOUR LANDSCAPE DESIGN MAY ALSO INCLUDE:
  • your existing space, the existing plants and features needing to remain will be input into the plan
  • the topography of your site
  • your location
  • if you have a site plan or other measurements of your property
  • the degree of detail that is needed on the plan
The more time and expertise that goes into the planning and design of a landscape, the more the landscape design will cost. Understanding how much time goes into the landscape design can be difficult for many homeowners to understand. It can also be one of the biggest challenges for a landscape designer.  Estimating the time it will take to design a landscape is something that even the most experienced landscape designers have struggled with from time to time. As landscape designers, we want to deliver a knock-your-socks-off-design, while at the same time, price it so that we can have the creative space and time we need to do great work!

THE TOTAL TIME YOUR LANDSCAPE PLAN WILL TAKE MAY NEED TO INCLUDE TIME FOR THE LANDSCAPE DESIGNER TO:

  • Take measurements and complete a site analysis of the property.
  • Enter the property site measurements and notes into CAD to create a base plan
  • Research any property codes, setbacks, HOA restrictions, etc.
  • Draft design concepts that cohesively integrate all the features that you have requested to be in your new landscape.
  • Meet with you to review any design concepts, if need be.
  • Draft design revisions from concepts plans to create your master plan.
  • Draft design details (for elements like arbors and pergolas, screen structures, outdoor kitchens, etc.).
  • Develop the planting plan, taking the time to make sure the right plant is in the right place (based on mature size, exposure and water requirements and type of soil).
  • Integrating your existing plant material and redistributing existing plant material if need be
  • Meeting with you to review the final landscape layout and planting plan
As you can see there is a lot that goes into creating a landscape plan.  There is really no such thing as a typical design or design fee because each project is so individual and because every company/designer will have something different to offer based on their level of expertise. How much detail and creativity a designer is able to input into a project will affect the overall project drastically.

It is extremely difficult to give an average cost for a landscape design.

That said, our landscape designs range from simple overlays to full 3D Designs plans. Designs start at $120, to full landscape designs that can cost in the several thousands of dollars.

AFTER THE CONSULTATION

1. The designer, that you met with onsite, will submit a quote for design services to you via email.
2. Upon acceptance of the design services quote, your project will be placed into a design queue. Most designs take between 2-3 weeks for a first revision to be emailed to you.
3. Depending on any revisions needed, a final plan and quote for the construction will be provided. Total design process can take 4-6 weeks.
