After the first frost, what was once green begins to turn brown. Warm season grasses begin to go dormant. For many, this is fine and just means that there is less yard work to do. But sometimes, you just want your lawn to be nice and green all year long. If you find yourself desiring a green lawn, there are a couple of options for you. apply five pounds of ryegrass per 1000 feet for established lawns and ten pounds of seed per 1000 feet for more barren areas. Sow the seeds and ensure that they have made contact with the soil. Water two to three times a day until the seeds germinate, but be careful not to overwater because you can either wash away the seeds or cause disease to develop. Make sure to fertilize the ryegrass and remember to keep mowing your lawn. The ryegrass should be kept around 1 to 1 ½ feet tall. In the spring, the ryegrass will die off as your warm season grass is coming back. does not run after it dries and it is safe for humans and pets to come in contact with. Several companies offer this service. The treatment usually lasts around two to three months.
